What Shall We Do With a Whiney Boy Scout (Florida High Adventure Version)

What shall we do with a whiney boy scout?
What shall we do with a whiney boy scout?
What shall we do with a whiney boy scout?
Early in the morning!

[CHORUS]

Way hay and up he rises,
Way hay and up he rises,
Way hay and up he rises,
Early in the morning!

Stick him in the shower with the roaches,
Stick him in the shower with the roaches,
Stick him in the shower with the roaches,
Early in the morning!

[CHORUS]

Send him for a swim with the chum bag,
Send him for a swim with the chum bag,
Send him for a swim with the chum bag,
Early in the morning!

[CHORUS]

Drop him in the shark hole without a motor,
Drop him in the shark hole without a motor,
Drop him in the shark hole without a motor,
Early in the morning!

[CHORUS]

Make him paddle upwind against the current,
Make him paddle upwind against the current,
Make him paddle upwind against the current,
Early in the morning!

[CHORUS]

Toss his Dramamine in the deep sea,
Toss his Dramamine in the deep sea,
Toss his Dramamine in the deep sea,
Early in the morning!

[CHORUS]

Take away his Gold Bond Powder,
Take away his Gold Bond Powder,
Take away his Gold Bond Powder,
Early in the morning!

That’s what we do with a whiney boy scout,
That’s what we do with a whiney boy scout,
That’s what we do with a whiney boy scout,
Early in the morning!

Virgin Falls backpacking trip by Leo

This weekend, we went down to Sparta, TN, to go backpacking at Virgin Falls. The ride down there had no problems.Once we arrived, we got on our packs and set off for our campsite. The weather was perfect that day. After a few water breaks, we arrived at our lunch stop, where an amazing waterfall was located. Not too much longer, we got on our packs again and went the last couple miles to our campsite. It was a spacious campsite with a great river view. Shortly after setting up camp, most everyone hiked up to the main waterfall, the cave above it, and Sheep Cave as well. The next day, however, was not as great. We had to eat breakfast and break camp in the rain. The trail, which just happened to be uphill, was very muddy and wet. Some snow made it even worse. Most of us were miserable, wet, cold, and tired as we hiked along. It felt like forever before we finally reached the parking lot to leave. Over all, it was a great trip with great views, such as Laurel Falls and the Caney Fork River.

Nick’s HAT report

High Adventure was really fun but was also very challenging at the same time. It was a trip to learn a lot of things about camping and to really get you into shape. I personally learned a lot about being prepared and not leaving things in cars. Pretty much the whole backpacking part of the trip I was unprepared because I left a bunch of things that I needed in Reuben‘s car. This trip also got a big break off of technology which I think a bunch of people are addicted too. This trip also had activities such as white water rafting and climbing and rappelling. We all learned some valuable things on this trip. This was one of the hardest but one of the most fun trips I have been on.

Registration form for our April 16 merit badge workshop

Scouts,
Don’t forget to turn in the registration form for our April 16 merit badge workshop. It’s going to be a great opportunity to learn new skills or sharpen  skills that you alread have, and we’ll have some fun along the way. Please get those forms to me this week or by Monday, April 11, at the latest. You can submit them in paper form or send me an email with the info.
I am attaching some pages from the Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge manual that you can use to prepare for the Saturday sessions. Rather than bringing your entire Family Emergency Kit, it will be fine just to bring a photograph or a list of what you have in the kit. However, please do plan on bringing the items for your Personal Emergency Kit. If you have trouble finding some of the items, please let me know and I’ll help you out.
We’re going to have an experienced instructor with us that morning, working with us on CPR, defibrillator and emergency preparedness skills. Mr. Mike Hackney is a veteran Boxwell instructor — and we don’t have to go out of town to receive this top-notch training.
Also in the afternoon you’ll have the opportunity to work on other merit badges, so indicate on your registration form what your interests are and your troop merit badget counselors will be prepared to help.
Have a question or suggestion? Need another copy of the registration form? Send me a note or call me at 415-0147.
Thanks!
Tim
