Stone Door 2025

For our January trip this year we went to stone door, originally we had planned to go to Tallulah Gorge but the weather was not looking to be in our favor. We arrived at the church and gathered our gear before setting off around 7:30. We arrived late and quickly set up camp as it was going to rain, and to our luck, it started raining only after everyone’s tents were fully up. We had a cracker barrel and went to bed.

The next day we woke up late and ate eggs in a bag, it’s one of my favorite camping meals. By 10:00 we were ready to set out on trail. The weather was misting us throughout the day but no heavy rain so that was good. We hiked 5 miles to camp and descended 1,000 feet down the door. When we got to camp, everyone divided into jobs that needed to be done before it got dark in a hour. This night got in the 20s but everyone stayed warm for the most part and the next morning it started to snow. The entire hike out it snowed and coated the forest in ice which made for unique views. Another highlight was the rope swing bridges that dotted the trail along the way. On the way back we stopped at chipotle. Overall it was a good trip.

2023-04 Paddling @ Grimes

Hey everyone,

At Grimes we paddled a total of 25 miles over 2 day. This was a challenging and exciting trip.

When we got there we had some cracker barrel(cheese and crackers) and then went to bed. In the morning we got ready for our first 17 miles of paddling. Once we were on the river we paddled to a little beach area were some of us jumped in the water(I say some because it was cold outside and people like me didn’t want to get wet). Then we kept on paddling until launch were we ate some pizza wraps. After that we paddled to a tree swing were some of us swang into the water. This was a fun stop! Next we made it to the 10 mile mark, BLUE ROCK. Here we then paddled until we got back to camp. At camp we had a cook of, the fruity bats VS the meat sweats(these are patrols, like groups). The fruity bats made a breakfast casserole and chocolate croissants. The meat sweats made a philly cheese steak and a mud pie. All of the food was very yummy and fun to make. The casserole and the mud pie were made in dutch ovens. Then we went to bed.

The last day was only 7 miles and this time we started at BLUE ROCK! We paddled until we hit a tree swing, were some people swang. Then we got back in our boats and paddled until we got back to camp. Once we were at camp we at lunch, packed up, and went home.

That is all,

Scout Sunday

Hello,

Every year in the spring, our scout troops meet up with the church that is sponsoring them, East End U.M.C.. This lets the boys show off what they have learned. This is a very fun day where boy scouts attend there sponsoring church and give speeches and help the church with that days service.

This scout sunday we had some of our scouts stand up and improve their speaking skills by reading a variety of texts. Our Scout Master(David Booth) talked about the importance of scouting, and how we have been with the church for over 100 years. This is a very fun day that our scouts do every year!

Thanks for reading,

Hello,

We had a great time skiing at Perfect North. Once we got there we had some cracker barrel(crackers, cheese, and grapes.)

We got there very late so after cracker barrel we went to bed. In the middle of the night the fire alarm went off and that woke everyone up(there was no fire. Everyone was safe). In the morning we had breakfast, picked up our sack lunches, and started to go to the slopes. We all skied till lunch. We did many fun slopes! Once we got back at lunch, we played some bacon-opoly. Then we head back out to ski. For dinner we ate a the ski lodge, and then we all had the option to do night skiing(everyone did it). For night skiing they turned on big flood lights so it was very bright! After that we headed back to the lodge, were we had more cracker barrel. That night there was no fire alarm going off, so we all got a good night’s rest. For the next day we had breakfast and picked up are sack lunches. We had another fun day of skiing and many big milestones for peoples skiing abilities’. After that we headed are way back home and on the way ate at Culvers!

This was a very fun and exciting trip!

2023-3 Caving @ Cumberland Caverns

Hello everyone,

For this trip we went to Cumberland Caverns. It was a very fun and different trip.

When we arrived we took a mile hike and then went in to the main cave. This was like a big open hall with a huge room at the end. Once we got to the room were we would sleep, we dropped our items.

We then had another mile hike to the cave we would be going through. Once we got there the entrance looked like this. (see below)

As we went through the cave it got narrower and narrower. About half way though we got to hear a very scary story, but it was a fun. (see below)

After the story the cave started to get narrow. Soon after we hit “Lemon Squeeze”. This was a very tight and long part of the cave. It was very fun though. Luckily we all made it out though. After we got out we ate and played uno. (see below)

After we played uno we went to bed, and had very little sleep because of the noise. Overall though this was a very fun and different trip for everyone.

That is all
