Bucks Mountain biking

The Bucks Patrol went to Montgomery Bell State Park for our patrol trip in April. We had quite the mountain biking adventure.

The pollen was so bad in the pine forest that we had to come up with some innovative ways of keeping it out of our mouths.
We started out with the easiest red trails and progressed all the way to the green, but left the hardest, the yellow for another day.
Almost everyone was really ready for this lunch time meal which was hidden away in a cache by Libor.

Of course, we are all about eating, so when dinner time came, we were ready to go again! Libor is preparing the steaks to perfection.
We also had the luxury of some fine french fries.
Johan and Joseph caught some crawdads for appetizers.

Need I say more?
Virgin Falls
This weekend, we went down to Sparta, TN, to go backpacking at Virgin Falls. The ride down there had no problems.Once we arrived, we got on our packs and set off for our campsite. The weather was perfect that day. After a few water breaks, we arrived at our lunch stop, where an amazing waterfall was located. Not too much longer, we got on our packs again and went the last couple miles to our campsite. It was a spacious campsite with a great river view. Shortly after setting up camp, most everyone hiked up to the main waterfall, the cave above it, and Sheep Cave as well. The next day, however, was not as great. We had to eat breakfast and break camp in the rain. The trail, which just happened to be uphill, was very muddy and wet. Some snow made it even worse. Most of us were miserable, wet, cold, and tired as we hiked along. It felt like forever before we finally reached the parking lot to leave. Over all, it was a great trip with great views, such as Laurel Falls and the Caney Fork River.

Paoli Peaks Ski Trip
The ski trip to Paoli Peaks, IN was a huge success. Of course we had our little problems, but overall, everyone had a good time. The photos have been posted to the 2012-01 Skiing at Paoli Peaks page.
Some videos of live action were taken including Jordan snowboarding and Steven’s wipeout. Some of the younger guys who were doing snowsports for the first time diligently overcame setbacks, including Joseph overcoming a fall.
Antonin, Johan, Libor and I had a brilliant run down Graber’s express, one of the two black diamonds.
Paoli Peaks trip
This weekend, we went to Paoli Peaks im Indiana. Unfortunately, A GPS malfunction and some big patches of ice slowed us down and we arrived at our cabin late, making us have little sleep. Later that morning, the wait was over and we finally arrived at our destination, Paoli Peaks. The day was great. Our lessons went smoothly and the snow was well packed, getting us some good speed. Later that night, we had fun playing some board games before hitting the hay. The next day, we packed our things up and headed for the slopes. After our lesson, we had a couple good hours of free ski before coming home.
