East Nashville Boy Scout Troop 3 is now taking orders for its ANNUAL TURKEY FRY!!     $45

* Cajun-spiced turkeys (pre-cooked weight 12-14 lbs.) are deep fried to perfection in peanut oil, and the boys clean up the mess!

* Pick up on Wednesday Nov. 21 from 1-4 pm at East End United Methodist Church, 1212 Holly St. (near 5 Points)

* Delivery available in East Nashville for $5.00. Free delivery for those wishing to donate a turkey to a local non-profit organization.

* Proceeds for this year’s event will go to support medical care for Larry Merin, a longtime  member and supporter of Troop 3 battling cancer.  Donations for the family are also being collected.

* Cash or check payments accepted.  Make checks payable to Troop 3.

Eagle Scout!

Troop 3 is happy to announce our newest Eagle Scout!  Rhys Bowen-Tanton passed his Eagle Scout Board of Review with flying colors last night.  Many congratulations to Rhys & his family who worked hard to support him through this process.

For his Eagle Project, Rhys built the lovely prayer garden located in the park next to East End Church.  If you haven’t stopped by to see the finished project yet, please do.  It is a beautiful addition to the park and the community.
We will let everyone know as soon as the date & time of Rhys’ Eagle Court of Honor has been set!

LBL mountain biking

The bucks Patrol headed to land between the lakes in Kentucky for a weekend of mountain biking.

We stopped at the golden pond welcome area to get our backcountry camping permits. On the way in we saw these flying agarics which we had to stop and photograph.

We set up camp and headed out on the trail with the goal of riding 25 miles.

We stopped along the way to get a photo of this shelf mushroom, Libor is there to give perspective as to how large it is.

After about six miles we stopped to have lunch of summer sausage sandwiches.

We also saw this very interesting fuzzy polypore mushroom.

We got back to camp around 5, but we were short of our goal, but did manage to do 15 miles, which a couple of the boys need for the biking merit badge.

We made some shepherd’s pie for dinner which looks like it is going to be delicious.

Boxwell Canoeing and Sailing

This was a very fun and succesful trip. Almost all the Otters finished their canoeing merit badge and all the Bucks got the sailing merit badge. The wind was perfect… so perfect, that a few sailboats capsized. The sail got a little muddy but otherwise they were okay. We played capture the flag and had a great campfire ceremony. For two days, the Bucks and the Otters were stealing a pink, plastic flamingo from each other. Overall this was a great trip.
